Our History

The site that Vegmead occupies was, for many years a local authority maintained flowerbed. We know that that has been a circular plot for over 100 years. This photo of Hedgemead Park taken in 1907 clearly shows a circular flowerbed on the site Vegmead now occupies.

Vegmead began life in 2011 when Bath Parks Dept gave over the circular flowerbed  to Transition Bath who transformed the space, which had been neglected for sometime, into a wonderful vegetable and fruit plot. Gardening was undertaken informally at the site until August 2016 when Vegmead Community Group was formed to manage Vegmead Edible Garden and improve its productivity and community outreach.
